Designers often use the colour blue in homes to inspire calmness as it can often be associated with freedom, imagination and inspiration. In Feng Shui it is considered to bring the energy of calm and peace, as well as an overall sense of relaxation and healing.

It is a very popular colour and people often refer to it as their favourite colour.The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming.  It is a colour that comes in many different shades, combines very easily and beautifully with many other colours, and brings tranquility to the home.

Blue around the world…

  • In Chinese culture, colors corresponded with the five primary elements, the directions, and the four seasons. Blue was associated with wood, east, and spring.
  • Blue, blue-green, and green are sacred colors in Iran, where they symbolize paradise.
  • In India, paintings of the god Krishna often depict him as having blue skin.
  • In Aztec culture, blue symbolized sacrifice.
