The Story Behind the Art Print: Modernist
Elizabeth Bull is a Melbourne based photographer, but at every opportunity you’ll find her travelling camera in hand. The art print Modernist was captured during her travels in Mexico.
From the photographer:
As photographers, we call the hour before sunset the ‘golden hour’. It’s that time when the light is beautiful and soft, and has beautiful orange and pink hues. It’s my favourite time to shoot, as the shadows are flattened and line, texture and shape are enhanced.
“As I wandered down the Malecon (esplanade) in a small beach town in Mexico, enjoying that beautiful time of day, I marvelled at how the locals came out to enjoy that time too. It was like the sleepy town had woken up as the intense heat of the day had eased, and it was now the time for kids to balance on the sea wall, couples to share an ice cream and families to ride their bikes along the path. Even though most people sat facing the ocean and watched the spectacular sunset, I was captivated by the modernist hotel facing the ocean and the colours reflected by the sunset.”
This art print is limited to 20 editions.
