Elizabeth is a highly acclaimed landscape photographer who has been working in the industry for over 10 years. Inexorably drawn to the urban environment, her images are often heavily centred around shape and texture.
From the photographer:
“One always wonders about roads not taken.” – Warren Christopher
When travelling through Canada’s frozen interior,I developed a fascination for how the forest and mountains met the highway—often the only evidence of human existence.
Snow covered roads almost but not quite entirely blend into the natural environment, but other human elements break up the wilderness abruptly, like this festive highway marker whose orange stripes stood out against the monochromatic backdrop of ice and snow.
This print is part of a series taken towards the end of winter while journeying through Alberta and British Colombia.
I travelled along the Powder Highway and right through the heart of the Rocky Mountains in search of great images and fresh snow to ski. I found both with little effort.
